JOSH PERRY

FOR HSE SCHOOL BOARD

Paid for by Friends of Josh Perry

Meet Josh, a dad & HSE Schools grad.

I’m a father of two, a longtime Fishers resident of more than 35 years, and a proud graduate of HSE Schools. I believe that our district deserves steady, balanced leadership focused on practical problem solving without political agendas. As a nonpartisan District 2 candidate, I will listen to all perspectives and support solutions that best serve the needs of our students, families, educators, and taxpayers. I understand the importance of thoughtful decision-making that balances the needs of these distinct groups while ensuring excellence for HSE Schools.

I’m running for school board because I want to bring a collaborative, purposeful approach to give back to the schools and community that shaped who I am today. From my elementary years at New Britton Elementary to graduating from Hamilton Southeastern High School in 2007, our schools showed me the value of a strong public education. Over the past three decades, I have watched our community and district grow and evolve, giving me a deep understanding of both the strengths and challenges we face. Today, my children Parker and Caroline are students at Harrison Parkway Elementary, and I’m enjoying experiencing HSE Schools again through the eyes of a parent. Serving on school board isn’t about a title or serving a political agenda, it’s personal. I want to serve my community and ensure our schools are strong for future generations.

At my position as Commercial Underwriting Manager at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, I lead a team of 15 and oversee commercial property and causality underwriting for the state of Indiana. In this role I regularly navigate complex, high stake situations that require balancing competing priorities and strong emotions to efficiently solve problems in the company’s best interest. I carefully weigh financial decisions and I am committed to serving as a responsible steward of our company dollars. As your school board representative, I will bring that same commitment to thoughtful decision-making and fiscal responsibility. I will work to ensure district resources are invested where they have the greatest impact while maintaining a careful focus on long-term financial sustainability and responsible management of taxpayer dollars.

Why I’m Qualified

  • I'm a product of this district - My wife and I both attended HSE from grades K-12, and now I’m experiencing the district as a parent. 35 years of roots here means I understand the people, the culture, and what this community expects from its schools.

  • I earned a teaching degree from Purdue - Understanding education from the inside out is something I carry with me regardless of the path my career took. I’ve spent time in classrooms supporting educators and know the challenges they face.

  • I believe in leading without overreaching - The board's job is to set vision and policy and trust the administration to execute and teachers to teach. I know the difference between governing and micromanaging.

  • I listen to understand, not just to respond - I take in all perspectives before forming a position. That kind of measured thinking is exactly what a school board needs.

  • I know how to have difficult conversations - Negotiation and conflict resolution are core parts of what I do professionally every day. I can cut through emotion and get to the real issue without creating unnecessary drama.

  • I want to serve quietly and effectively - My goal is not to create a public spectacle or make headlines. My goal is to do right by students and teachers without the noise.

What I Stand For

  • Steady, Balanced Leadership

Good decisions start with listening. The political division within our schools is a serious problem that often distracts from the work that matters most. I will cultivate balanced, solutions-focused dialogue instead of division and assumptions. I will listen first, decide carefully, and act in the best interest of our students, families, educators, and taxpayers.

  • Fiscal Responsibility

Declining enrollment creates real fiscal pressure that cannot be ignored or papered over. We need honest, data driven conversations about how we create a sustainable future for our district without compromising the quality of education or the people who deliver it.

  • Teacher Retention

It’s vital that we retain great teachers to ensure excellence in our schools. This includes making HSE a great place to work and fostering a culture of support for our educators.

  • Supporting Students Across All Pathways

HSE has a reputation for academic excellence that took decades to build and could erode quickly without intentional stewardship. Protecting that standard, for every student across every pathway, should guide every decision this board makes. I'm a strong supporter of the HSE Network Model and expanding trades and direct-to-workforce pathways. A welding certification and an AP class deserve equal respect.

  • The Referendum

Due to the impact of SEA 1, I believe the proposed referendum is necessary to ensure financial stability for our schools with as little impact as possible to our property taxes. I believe in responsible budgeting, thoughtful spending, and investing in the right resources and programs to keep HSE moving forward.

  • School Safety

Every parent sends their child to school expecting them to come home safe. School safety is not a political issue, it is a fundamental obligation of this board and I will treat it as the highest priority it deserves to be.
